Conservation

Objective: Support the restoration and curation of immovable & movable tangible astronomical heritage.

Conservation is an umbrella term for preservation and restoration. The Centre is concerned with the conservation of both intangible heritage and tangible heritage.

Intangible heritage includes expertise, rules of use, history of a site or object, knowledge & understanding, calculation & theories, calendars, ideology, predictions of the future, oral histories, and biographies.

Tangible (both moveable & immovable) heritage includes architecture, fixed/moveable instruments, plans, artefacts, iconography & symbolic representations, records of observations, printed/digital data, sky maps, publications, landscapes constructed using astronomy, archives, drawings, and tools using astronomical properties.
