One of the Centre’s primary drivers is to build & curate an open, cultural data, digital repository of South African astronomical heritage which will serve as a

• virtual museum,
• research portal, and
• heritage conservation resource.

It will be freely accessible to the general public (with certain restrictions on sensitive materials) and, as appropriate, to bona fide researchers, within the framework of an intellectual property rights policy.
