The Centre acts as a conservation body by assisting with site declaration and object registration as contemplated in the National Heritage Resources Act, 1999 (Act No. 25 of 1999).
Site declaration and object registration are functions performed within the context of South African law, as implemented by the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA) and local heritage authorities.
To best assist with these functions, the Centre is a Registered Conservation Group (Heritage Authority: SAHRA). You can view the Centre’s registration on the SAHRIS database for further details.
